Xamara Aleman, News Editor
Xamara Aleman is the News Editor for The Mesa Press and is a journalism major at San Diego Mesa College. She plans to graduate with an associate's degree to transfer by Spring 2023. Aleman's goal is to transfer to San Diego State to pursue a bachelor's degree in journalism to work in public relations and news. She specifically wants to write about political issues and cover news stories around the world. When Xamara is not working on The Mesa Press she's usually teaching swim lessons, lifeguarding, swimming, or surfing.
Hana Marrone, Features Editor
This is Hana Marrone from the Mesa Press. This is her second semester as the editor for the features section. She plans to transfer to San Diego State University to continue her education in journalism. She hopes to become a travel writer. In her free time she enjoys playing soccer, going to the beach and surfing with friends.
Keila Menjivar, Staff Writer
Keila Menjivar is a staff writer for the Mesa Press. Though not a first year college student, this is her first year at Mesa College, where she recently changed her major to Journalism. She plans to transfer to SDSU where she will continue her studies in Journalism. Keila is especially passionate about equal access to wellness and is a part of the growing movement that aims to elevate quality of life for historically marginalized groups who currently experience socioeconomic and emotional barriers to accessing personal fulfillment. When her nose isn’t buried in a book, you can find Keila at the beach, gym, or her local yoga studio.
Kayla Lewis, Staff Writer
Kayla Lewis is a Staff Writer for The Mesa Press. Originally from Northern California, Kayla is currently a second year student at San Diego Mesa College. She plans to transfer to a CSU in the fall of 2023 to finish her education and receive her bachelor’s degree in journalism. In her free time, Kayla enjoys going to the beach, thrifting, and attending farmers markets. Kayla has always had a passion for reading, writing, and researching. Her goal is to write for a magazine publication or one day start her own.
Andres Armenta, Photo Editor
Andres Armenta is a Photo Editor at Mesa Press and is currently a sophomore at San Diego Mesa College. With aspirations to pursue a career in the field of Sports Journalism, Andres aims to gain admittance to the University of Southern California for the Fall of 2023. Though this may be his first time writing with Mesa Press, his passion for journalism is rooted in his love for writing and hopes to one day create a lasting impact with his written work. In his free time, Andres enjoys coaching his high school soccer team, taking his little sister to school every other morning, and listening to podcasts on any topics that pique his interest.
Alysse Dodge, Editor-in-Chief
Alysse Dodge is the Co-editor-in-chief for the Mesa Press. This is her second semester working for the Mesa Press. Alysse grew up in Orange County and moved to San Diego County when she began college. In her free time, she loves to surf and spend a lot of time outdoors. She also loves photography, reading, and writing. With that said, she is majoring in journalism with the ultimate goal to write for a surf magazine.
